Chemical Spraying with Drones as a mobile app

Scope
AP government wants to introduce Mobile Application for Farmers to create a request for drone based spraying service

Key Points
Present your understanding of this user demographic and how they can come to understand and use this application.
Imagine and document their motivations, apprehensions, and ambitions and how that would affect or enable the adoption of this application.
Try to factor in the technological literacy of this user group in your design.
Make sure to cover all the steps and details the farmer needs to provide a successful request for spraying.
Think about how critical it is to spray crops on time and how the farmer will get the confidence that his requested spraying activity will happen on time.
Answer questions like “how does the farmer know when to spray”.
Think about how you will explain the cost of spraying to customers and how and when you will take the payment.

Things to focus in this research
1. How Chemical Spraying is happening in the farm lands.
2. How they usually outsource the sparing vendors in regular bases
3. Process of spraying. Schedule and how often farmers use to spray the insecticides
4. What is their level of understanding about mobile applications
5. Any other product in the market solving this with modernized solution
6. How farmers usually handle there payment methods
7. Other drone services in the market
8. What are the other applications used by farmers for there agricultural process
9. Tracking and updating on the request.

Questions to ask farmers
How they outsource for chemical spraying
What is time frame between 1 session and the next session
Things to monitor during chemical spraying
Other mobile applications used for agricultural process
Special remarks from farmers to spraying vendors
Process of spraying
How they handled with other unknown spraying vendors
What is cost for 1 session of spraying and how they manage the cost

I reached out to two farmers personally to understand Chemical Spraying and the other following processes. These farmers are from the southern parts of Tamil Nadu.

Name: Suresh Kumar
Location: Panjalam Village, Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu

Name: Seshasalam
Location: Sellipalayam Village, Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu

Collective informations received from both farmers
Every crop required a minimum of 4 spraying sessions which is mandatory.
Those are 15 days (for Growth), 30 days (for Pesticides & Growth), 45 days (for Pesticides & Growth), 65 days (for High Yield). The 5th and 6th sessions will be decided depending on the health status of the crop.
Spraying is based on the climate and growth of the crops.
Their motorized spraying machine has the capacity of up to 10 liters. So 100 liters is consumed for 1 acre. The basic spraying machines start from 1 liters capacity.
Cost for 1 acre of spraying costs approximately 2080 rs.
Labour 400rs + Medicine 1500 rs + Fuel 180 rs
Some of the problems they are facing include - Manpower shortage, difficulty to spray during wet climatic conditions, and difficulty in spraying on that initial 15-20 days
Farmers are not satisfied, rather have their doubts in this drone spraying process.
For example, Villupuram district shows high failure rate while Namakkal district shows high success rate.
They trust only their peers' success stories.
They are more comfortable with online shopping but they mostly trust only on Cash on Delivery.
